Fiat Abarth 500

According to British mag Auto Express, the new Fiat 500, due for launch in 2007, is the Abarth treatment in high-performance version of the new small car.

The new Fiat Abarth, shown in the sketch above, has a trademark monster fender flares original Abarth 500, which includes wider wheels and suspension harder. New car is said powered by a 150-hp, 1.4-liter turbo, capable of attracting the car from 0-60 mph in about 8 seconds. Abarth version will debut simultaneously with the Fiat 500 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Compare with the original Fiat Abarth 500 after the jump!

Tuner Austrian-born Carlo Abarth became famous for Italian motor racing, producing several variants of the tiny Fiat 500. New sketch artist who brought Fiat 695 Abarth model number, just like the Abarth's top-of-the-line pocket rocket in the early '60s. In race-ready 695SS version, the 500 air-cooled two-cylinder engine bored to 689cc and is equipped with a Weber carb, high-capacity aluminum oil that (no doubt to help cool the engine!), And "stinger" exhaust. On the street-legal trim, the 695SS out ground-pounding 38 hp, but race versions could make more than (gasp!) 55 hp. A small car, but great fun!

We've all heard the Fiat and Alfa Romeo empty statments for years sworn they would return to North America. The question faced is if they are truly committed to re-enter North America, can they succeed? How well this time will be Fiat, Alfa Romeo and Abarth product portfolio fits with the current U.S. and Canadian markets? What will be the best dealerships that sell infrastructure platform Fiat (and / or Alfa Romeo / Abarth / Iveco / Ferrari / Maserati, etc.) products? Can the general public perception can not be relied upon to overcome? North America is entering in the near future given the choice of an intelligent American current economic contraction? Or whether the fuel is only about Fiat assistance in obtaining sales for small cars and diesel engines? Would you consider a Fiat product? Other thoughts about the Fiat and its subsidiaries back into North America?

MINI demand currently unprecedented (as discussed in this thread) substantiates that there is a big enough market for the premium, stylish, compact, fuel-efficient cars. Given the success of MINI and concerns fuel today, I predict and Alfa Romeo Mito 500 Abarth will 500/Fiat hits sales.
